Nipples

Wesley has become obsessed with nipples...we're not a very modest family and as my belly gets bigger by the day there seems to be a neon sign saying "Look at Mommy!" all day long, clothed or not...well as Wesley has become more and more curious about the function of nipples, he's also taken to asking about every person we know and if they too have nipples.  I explained how mommies use nipples to feed babies and he told me he wanted milk in his nipples to feed the baby too.  He was then even more confused why he had nipples when I told him that boys and daddies can't feed babies because their nipples don't make milk...I wasn't able to give him a solid answer as to why he has nipples if they don't do anything, but in the meantime, his nipple and milk fascination continues...

29 weeks and counting

We had another doctor's appointment today and let me just say, it went as well as the rest of them have gone.  There's never really much to report, which is exactly what we want, and our doctor is happy with how we're progressing.  The baby is head down for now (let's hope it stays that way) but we all know how fast things can change.  We are still completely clueless on names and have not a whole lot prepped since we don't know the gender, but we are 100% ready to meet this little love and start our adventure as a family of 5!

Happy Father's Day

Today we celebrated Daddy with a day made of competition, pampering, indulgence, and family. Daddy and Wesley started the day with an early round of golf (they both had a blast!), then Daddy headed to a reflexology appointment before we all enjoyed lunch at his favorite local spot, The Backdoor Bistro.  Everyone napped (hallelujah!) and then our families came over for a BBQ.  It was an awesome way to celebrate the daddies and papas in our lives and to show them just how special they are!

You look Fabulous

Little Guy usually requests that I come to say good night after him and Daddy are done with their bedtime routine.  Last night was no exception and when I went in, he wanted to style my hair like a mermaid.  After ruffling the top and moving a few pieces around, he reported that I looked fabulous, just like a mermaid.  Little Guy, I love you!

Class Hamster

Wesley has been talking about the class hamster he likes to play with at PEP.  I've pushed for more info and he tells me that his friends hold it and it has spots....well today I asked Miss Renee when they got the new class pet and she was totally confused.  There was no class hamster according to the teachers...later that day I got a text of this photo with the caption "The mystery of the class hamster has been solved".  Wesley and his buddies had this sweet toy and were caring for it, keeping it in a cage, and playing with it all day long.  Never did he think to mention the class pet was pretend, that would have made this whole story less exciting!

Big Jack AND Zippy

Today was a day for the record books....Big Jack, Madison, Auntie Cari, AND Zippy came for a playdate.  I think Wesley was almost in heart attack mode all morning as we waited for them to arrive.  I don't know how she does it, but Auntie Cari has the two most sweetest kiddos you have ever met and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Wesley looks up to them.  Since we spent all day in the pool, we have zero pictures, but the memories will last forever!

Backyard Shinanigans

Gabe and I have been talking about adding a side yard patio to our outdoor ensemble for over two years now.  We had our first bid in February 2013 and just couldn't pull the trigger on a design or idea...well we finally came together on an idea and after being on the list for over a year, our landscaper was ready to break ground today!  It was really exciting for the boys to have an excavator and a Bobcat at our house and even more fun when Abel let them drive it.  We are all anxious to see the final project, but in the meantime, the boys love having builders at our house!

Third Trimester, We're coming for you!

We are just about to enter into our third trimester and while I complain every day that it seems to be taking FOREVER to meet this sweet baby, I am really shocked that we're already in the home stretch!  The boys are getting excited for the baby, although I am still not sure they fully grasp what's coming their way, and Mommy and Daddy are really starting to feel the pressure to get a name or two picked out!  Oh sweet Baby DeTar, we can't wait to meet you and love you to pieces!

Collins Lake

We went on our annual camping trip this weekend, and let's just say the heat did not disappoint.  It was hot, like really hot, the whole time, but the lake was close and the boat was in working order, so we all survived.  The boys have been counting down until camping and by the looks of their dirty feet, they had a blast!  From campfires to huge bike spills and ice cream in between, we all enjoyed making memories and getting filthy!  Our family color coordinated tie dye was a hit and everyone is in for next year so I'd say it was a success!

Summertime Movies

Our local theatre does $1 movie days and you know me, I can't pass up a bargain!  Lucky for us, Gigi came up for the morning and ended up staying with Little Guy while Wyatt Bear and I walked over to Starbucks. We arrived a little too early and all his patience was used up before the movie started...the movie was a bit of a bust, I had never seen Kung Fu Panda and who would have guessed it is all fighting and naughtiness, which Little Guy was quick to point out.  It was still a fun morning, we're looking forward to Shrek in a few weeks!

Filling Up Our Marble Jar

So the boys have been working on chores and following family rules and they are rewarded with marbles at the end of the day.  Once the jar is filled, they get to go to the Red Store (Target) and pick out a toy.  Today was the day and Little Guy could not get home fast enough to put on his new fire outfit, even though it was 102 degrees outside!  Wyatt Bear found a bunk bed for his babies and everyone left a happy camper!

Train Town Fun

Today Little Guy went golfing with Daddy for the first time...it was enjoyed by both of them...Daddy because he had someone tending his pin and Little Guy because he got to drive the golf course.  I loved seeing my sweet boy all slicked up and Mr. Wyatt Bear enjoyed the follow up trip to Train Town.  Mr. Wyatt Bear is pretty much game for anything involving choo-choos so the afternoon did not disappoint.  His daddy is also such a smooth talker he ended up riding his first rollercoaster, even though he was still inches away from meeting the height requirement!

Fun times with Gigi and Pey

We decided spur of the moment to head to Sesame Street Live today and as luck would have it, we were able to score two additional tickets right next to us for Gigi and Peyton!  They weren't the first row seats we've had in the past, but they were perfect for our group and gave Mr. Wyatt Bear a chance to rock out with all the gang.  Everyone loved it, even Little Guy, and we all left happy with glow wands and popcorn!  It was an awesome morning and to make it even better, Gigi and Pey came back to our house and Papa Tim came out for dinner.  The kiddos all played and bathed and loved every second of family time.

Last Day of Music...for now

So today was our last day with Miss Justine for the spring session.  Little Guy has been going to music since he was about one and a half and Wyatt Bear has been tagging along since 6 months in utero.  I am hoping it isn't our last class forever, but I am a little scared of what three kiddos will look like in music class.  Miss Justine volunteered to wear the littlest love for class but I am not sure the other parents would think that was as amazing as I would.  For now we're going to keep jamming along to our car tunes and hope we are all reunited come Fall.

Ear infection...EKG

So Mr. Wyatt Bear has recently decided that he doesn't want to nap or go to bed at night without tears, screaming, and a fight...I seem to remember being about 7 months pregnant with Wyatt Bear when Little Guy also decided to throw his sleep schedule to the wind so while it really stinks, it doesn't completely surprise me.  Well, after four days of barely sleeping, I decided to bring him in to have his ears checked out...well his ears looked great but the doctor noticed a heart murmur he hadn't heard in the past.  We trucked it up to cardiology, were gifted with adorable stuffed bears, "suffered" through an EKG and sent home to wait for a call from pediatric cardiology.  We decided there was no reason to wait around at home so we went to Six Flags, always a good distraction.  Cardio called that day and we had an appointment the next morning...I'll skip past the suspense and report the specialist did not find anything to be concerned about and we are in the clear!  I was of course hoping the heart murmur scare would be nothing, but I was a little disappointed his ears were clear...with nothing to blame this break in sleep habits on, I am back to the drawing board!
