Except for one thing...

What a fun Friday we had.  From the ranch, to playgroup, to the bath, Little Guy was everywhere today and he had a BLAST with it all.  He started his day with a trip to the ranch with Daddy- Daddy says he LOVED the cows and the corral.  Next we headed to our Friday Friends playgroup where he saw many of his friends, including his little buddy Noah.
Too cute!
To round out our fun day, we headed over to the Santopadre house for yummy chicken pot pie...everything Heather cooks is DELICIOUS and this was no exception.  The twins showed off their new Angry Birds tower (brilliantly constructed by their dad) and Baby Jackson was kind enough to share his bath time with Little Guy.
Fresh and clean and ready for bed!

And that about does it for our fabulous Friday...oh, except for one pretty MAJOR thing...LITTLE GUY IS CRAWLING!!!!  We are so excited ( I know, give it a few tiring days and the excitement will wear off) and  he's pretty proud of himself.  Here's a quick clip

Spa Time

We are so excited to have our pool finished but it is still WAY too cold to jump in, so we took Little Guy into the spa instead.  This was his first time in water more vast than his bath tub and he LOVED it.  He did a few dunks, splashed his hands, and floated around belly up.  We can't wait to see what he does with warm weather and a whole pool to play with.  Here's a shot of us heading to the hot tub in our spa robes.

This is how we play with our toys

Apparently this is how we play with our toys...we don't push the cart, or pull the cart, or even climb on the cart.  No, we lift the cart and giggle when it crashes to the ground.  My "Gentle, Wesley" pleas are obviously falling on deaf ears.  Oh boy oh boy!

Standing Up with the Sniffles

It's been a rough day...Little Guy and I were both under the weather.  What started as some harmless sniffles turned into a major sinus disaster and overall misery for mommy (Little Guy never got worse then the sniffles).  We spent the day just trying to survive (yes, I have a flair for the dramatic) and Daddy came home just in time for me to get a much needed nap.  We ordered in pizza and headed to bed early...when I woke up to nurse Little Guy, this is what I found:
Little Guy had pulled himself ALL the way up and was dangling his arms over the top of his crib.  First thing on the to-do list, lower crib!!

Addiction

Hi, I am Tiffani and I am a pinterest addict....and I know I am not alone.  There are all sorts of running jokes regarding pinterest obsessions habits, but the general gist is usually something along the lines of having 50 pinned recipes that you've never tried and a laundry list of craft projects you'll never get to...well today the joke's on them, because I did my FIRST pinterest craft project and it was a huge success. I enjoyed a WHOLE day of crafting with my girlfriends and ended with these phenomenal birthday boards.
 The back
The front
I am pretty sure that the ten hours it took us to complete these masterpieces is little more than it took Angela to complete the board that inspired our project.  Now I just have to wait three more weeks until I can break it out for my THIRTIETH (YIKES!?!?) birthday.

Bruised Avocados

Disclaimer:  There is too much I want to recap for just one topic or theme...pardon the disjointed chain of thought...

Little Guy still doesn't like to eat solid foods.  He LOVES to nurse and seems pretty content to live off breast milk (I may be loving this as well.)  Anyways, today at lunch I continued my futile efforts with some avocado.
Here's how we started
So clean and fresh...

Midway through...
Someone get this boy a trough!

All Done!
Or how about a Kleenex?!?
Our brand new white and gray sweatsuit may not have weathered this dining out experience so well, but on the bright side I think he did ACTUALLY ingest some solid food today.

Little Guy is insistent that he sit up on his own, reach for toys on his own, and fall over all on his own without breaking his fall.  We try to catch him before this happens, but sometimes he is too quick, or it doesn't look like anything to be worried about.  That's what we thought yesterday when he took a little face plant in the bathroom...result, a little bloody lip ( I think he wanted to be like his daddy).  Today he took a face-forward dive into the table leg and not ten minutes later followed it up with a sideways fall...result, a bump on the head and a pretty red eye socket...between my husband and Little Guy, I am going to need a lot of ice packs and good emergency room reading material.

To wind down from our yummy exciting day, we took a bath.  Aside from Little Guy just loving bath time (it's so precious to watch him just lounge in his rubber ducky), today he was mesmerized with the drain. He could not figure out the noise it made while the water drained...I just love seeing the curiosity and excitement in his eyes.  Watching a baby experience the world for the first time really makes you appreciate how awesome life truly is.

Final note of the day- Our tribute tees are still waiting to be worn...

Just A Pretty Great Day

You know those times when your day is coming to an end and you think, "Gosh, today was a pretty great day!"?  Well today was one of those days.  Not for any one monumental moment or event, just from a lot of little things adding up to a pretty great Wednesday.
In no particular order, here are some highlights from our day:
1.  Introduction to Baby Signs class...Little Guy loved the toys and playing with his buddy and Mommy is a sucker for singing and parachutes.  We had a blast!
2.  TWO WONDERFUL NAPS for Little Guy.  I love when I know he is getting all the sleep he needs, and when he wakes up at 7:15 and takes TWO ninety minute plus naps, you know he's getting his shut eye.
3.  Our pool is filled and ready to go!!!
4.  A laundry list of  "to-dos" were finally crossed off the list.
5.  Operation Organize Pantry has started and should be finished tomorrow (let's hope for another day of GREAT naps!)
6.  Little Guy and I got to hang out and play together in this beautiful sunshine (my favorite highlight of the day!).  I love being a mommy.

And our great day all started off with bagels and coffee with Daddy:

Flowery Fun

I had my first Flower Mart experience today- that place is pretty awesome!  It reminded me of Pike's Market, which got me thinking about how great the flowers are in Seattle, and the food, and the shopping and then I remembered the weather and decided I am still happy living in California and don't actually want to live in "Sunny" Seattle anytime soon.

My hubby's lip is healing up...Little Guy is doing his part to help by swatting and grabbing at the stitches (that scar he wanted so badly may still be a possibility).

A delicious fish dinner (compliments to the chef, honey!) rounded out our day.  Here's to a nice start of what is sure to be a great week...did someone say Hunger Games this Friday???  I may need to make myself and the hubby matching tribute tees...

Sunday Stitches

What does one do when they have a chore filled day on the agenda?  They pull scaffolding off of a ladder to delay said chores with a sliced lip and goose egg bump on the head.  My hubby's poor lip:

Against his primal urge to avoid the doctor's office at ALL costs, we went to the ER for an expert opinion...the verdict was four stitches and he'd be good as new!

The stitches are here until Thursday.  The doctor assured him that he would have minimal scarring since he went in for the stitches- my hubby is a little disappointed that he won't have some sort of scar to show for this ordeal- he says he wanted the scar to remind him of the bonehead thing he did, I say he just wanted to look tough.

Programming note:  Little Guy is SEVEN months old today!

Sideburns and Chanel

We went into Walnut Creek for a little family fun time today.  I was getting ready to go when my sweet hubby asked me if I had considered cutting the sides of my hair so I wouldn't have sideburns anymore...I politely explained that theses "sideburns" were just another glorious side effect of pregnancy hair loss and regrowth.  Here's a glimpse at the "side burn"...little does my hubby know, but I also have said "side burn" like growth near my forehead as well ( I always say I want bangs; now I can have them).

After our yummy lunch at the Silk Road, I we decided that we should check out the new Neiman Marcus.  My hubby has never met a pair of royal blue velvet penny loafers he doesn't think are totally ridiculous love, and the saleswoman ate up his charm while he perused the Prada flip flops and Gucci boots...after the shoes, we ventured to the purses..."What CHANNEL do you think these purses are on?"  asked my husband....I explained it's pronounced "Chanel", but his attention had already shifted to the twenty two hundred dollar giraffe picture frame...needless to say, we left with nothing but a good laugh and a few sideways glances.  We followed this up with eating chocolate cupcakes in the Nordstrom foyer; it was too cold to eat them outside.

One Eyed Wes

Our day started out with a special breakfast trip WITH DADDY to Black Bear Diner.  Little Guy was happy as a clam on the drive over, until something happened and he started to howl.  Upon inspection, it appeared to be a sippy straw to the eye- no harm done, he was laughing before we got to the door.  Little Guy enjoyed "breakfast", that is until his mommy let him play with her straw and he stabbed himself IN THE SAME EYE.  No the straw didn't flick him, he stabbed himself.  This earned him the nickname "One Eyed Wes"- I wanted to document the moment in the restaurant, but ironically, there was a patron in the foyer with only one eye, so I thought it best to wait until we were outside.

After breakfast One Eyed Wes and I ran a few errands and then snuggled up for the rainy afternoon.  I just can't get enough of my One Eyed Wes- his giggle, his smile, and his CONSTANT chattering melt my heart.  Just to remind me that he is growing bigger EVERY day, he is now in his new ducky bathtub.  No more lounging in the baby bath, no, not for this guy.  He is sitting up, splashing around, and on occasion, sticking his face in the water, although he promptly remembers every time that he doesn't really like that.

He looks like me

Everyone thinks Little Guy looks just like his daddy, everyone that is but his daddy.  The resemblance was the first thing I noted after he was born.  Today my husband saw this picture and FINALLY agreed that Little Guy does look identical a little bit like him.

Wednesday Wrap Up

The rain is finally here!!  Rainy days make for long naps.  Daddy came home yesterday and snuggled up with Little Guy for a TWO AND A HALF hour nap.

Try as she might, Olive cannot escape Little Guy's torturous tugs loving pats.  Here is Little Guy and his BFF:

We're back

It is literally minutes until the IT guy is supposed to be here, and as I sit down at the computer to get ready, I try one last time to load my blog...it works!  Then I try my downloads, finished in seconds.  The printer, no problem!  Everything is back up and running.  Funny how that works, right when help is on the way.  Fingers crossed that was just a little bump in the road and everything is back to normal for good!

Technology...

I love to hate it.  Right now I am having a battle with both my mac and pc; the computers are winning.  Without countless craft blogs, this blog, Facebook, Photoshop, picnik, baby blogs, and other general time sucking programs on said computers, I am left to sweep, mop, and clean my house…that is unless Little Guy is awake, then we get to play.  He wasn’t in the mood to nap this afternoon (thanks daylight savings), and I wasn’t in the mood to clean, so we kept each other company.  He is enamored with my humorous ways (I always knew I was funnier than people were letting on) and his giggle makes me HAPPY!  Hopefully my computers will get over whatever it is that is making them S.O. S.L.O.W. and Little Guy will get back into his napping routine.  Here are a few photos from the weekend. Again, with the technology wars I am currently waging, I wasn’t able to post them.

All dressed up for our church outing.

Post church debacle…Venti hot chocolate spilled in the white
laundry…you can cry over spilled milk, I now know this.

You know you're a mommy when...

you FINALLY lie down in bed, stretch out your legs, and feel this under your sheets:

Little Guy has a small fortune in toys (thanks to his grandparents and doting auntie and uncles), but when there's cardboard around, watch out.  No light up, singing, bouncing, dancing toy could compare to good 'ol cardboard.  And thanks to mommy's habitual occasional online shopping, there seems to always be cardboard treasures in our house.

Little Guy's wardrobe choices have multiplied since starting cloth diapers...he can now fill out the 6-12 month pants with the help of the padded fluff.  He broke out this new outfit today and it was PRECIOUS!

It was yet another BEAUTIFUL "spring" day...we need rain, but I just don't want to give up bubble time on the grass.

We love our busy boy

As Little Guy continues to get so close to crawling, he has discovered he can do something else.  He gets on all fours, rocks back and forth (MANY times), then pulls his feet right up to his hands, rolls back onto his bottom, and sits up.  It doesn't translate well to writing, but essentially he goes from a crawling position to sitting- sitting isn't new, but getting into the sitting position unassisted is!  Every time he discovers something new to do, he has that much LESS of an interest in being still, or even just laying on his back for thirty seconds to get his diaper changed...oh what a busy baby we love!

Photo Challenge Fail

Well, after four days I realized that pretty much no matter what the theme is for the daily photo, I am going to find a way to make it a photo of Little Guy.  So instead of trying to "fit" Little Guy into the theme, I am throwing the challenge out and just snapping preciousness when I see it, like here:

Along with throwing out the photo challenge, here's what we've been up to the last few days:

1.  Still going strong with our cloth diapers...anxiously awaiting the arrival of four more diapers so I won't be doing diaper laundry five times a day...that's a SLIGHT exaggeration, but it will be nice to have a few spares.

2.  We are THIS CLOSE to finishing up this stretch of home improvement projects.  We had the stucco down last weekend, we're getting ready to have the house painted, and the pool should be plastered by Friday...I can't wait to see it all come together.

3.  "Goodnight Gorilla" and "Guess How Much I Love You" have entered our bedtime story rotation.  Little Guy and Daddy enjoy their reading time before bed, although Daddy questions the authors and their silly story lines, i.e. "Why do the animals all take baths, get on their pajamas AND THEN go up to exercise?"  He'll have to Sandra Boynton that one.

That about sums up our highlights from the last few days.  I have a few art projects in the works and Little Guy is still THIS CLOSE to crawling, so I am sure I'll have pictures and videos up soon!

Day Four of the Photo Challenge

Bedside
My bedside is cluttered with baby books for Little Guy, magazines I will NEVER have time to read, a small fortune in chapstick, hair ties, and dental floss, and other miscellaneous items I can never seem to find a home for.  That being said, no one needs a picture of the chaos that is- so here is a picture of what I hope to get into a frame this week to at least add some preciousness to the clutter.

We "moustache" you...

to "comb" celebrate!  We celebrated Baby Jackson's first birthday today at his little man birthday party.  It was a fun time with moustache straws, yummy goodies, and cute babies dressed to a tee.
After a fun time at the party, we took a family trip to the Home and Garden Show in Sacramento.  Little Guy was such a trooper the whole time; after the show he goofed around with Daddy before driving home.

The Photo Challenge Continues

Day Three- Neighborhood
We took advantage of this amazing weather with an evening stroll to the neighborhood park.
Little Guy loves the swing.

We were invited to little Lizzy Bug's half birthday party today.  The babes had a fun time playing, we had a yummy lunch followed by cake on half a plate and cookies half dipped in frosting, and everyone had a great time.

After a fun day of parties and walks, Little Guy relaxed with his evening bath then lounged in his robe.  Pardon the reflection picture, the robe is SO CUTE when he's "standing", so I wanted to try to capture the preciousness.

Day Two- Horoscope

Day two of the photo challenge is horoscope.  This doesn't lend itself to a fun photo, but it is a good horoscope.

Happy Birthday

to our buddy Baby Jackson and Dr. Seuss!

Happy first birthday to Baby Jackson!!
Born 3-2-11

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!

After a THREE hour nap Little Guy woke up ready to party- One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish...I can't wait until we can read some of Dr. Seuss' classics together.

Dreamin' of Diapers and Crawlin'

Cloth Diaper Update: Today we made it through six cloth diapers, no accidents or issues to report! We invested in three more diapers today, getting us almost half way to our goal of having twenty four diapers in our inventory.

Little Guy is SOOOO close to crawling, it is precious to watch!  He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth until he's exhausted and collapses completly to his core.  He is a busy boy now, so I can only imagine how busy he'll be once he figures this out.  All this practice for crawling wears Little Guy out.  Sweet Dreams little love.

Day One: View from my window

Happy March!  I came across a March one-a-day photo challenge, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Today's photo:  A view from my window

This was a great chance to snap a shot of our in progress pool.  We are a few weeks from completion and we can't wait to see the finished product.  We have been in construction mode since the end of January and have a targeted completion date on March 30th!!
