Chop it all off

was inspired by Anne on our recent Sunriver trip to chop off my hair.  This shocks a lot of people, but I tend to do a big chop at some point every year.  I sent my picture to Nicole and she booked me right away.  It's short and I have BANGS, but I love it!  Now we'll just have to see how I feel about it when I can't pull it into a pony in this 100 degree plus heat!

Weddings and Birthdays

We went out to celebrate the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Eric Rott while our kiddos and my parents went to the carnival to celebrate Emme and Caden turning SIX!  Gabe's known Eric since birth and we've watched the twins grow from day one so it was a fun day to celebrate great people we've known forever!  It was also the first time Mr. Wyatt Bear went to bed without his mama...it all went fine ( I think a party until 7:30 and a late night swim helped to REALLY tucker him out!) and everyone was asleep when we rolled in at 1 in the morning...we haven't been out that long in forever.  It was a fun time to dance with friends and hang with my hubby, but it was also nice to come home and see my sweet babes- EARLY that morning Little Guy came into our room and announced "You're home!".  Nothing makes my heart happier.

Sunriver 2014

We finally did it!  We took a family vacay to Sunriver and let me just say, it lived up to all the hype!  We started our journey at 2 AM on Thursday morning, yes TWO AM in the morning...it was a little rough getting going, but as we carried Little Guy to the car, he poked his head up and said "We going to Sunriver???" and that was all I needed to get me through the eight hour drive!  Both boys did remarkably well, sleeping for a bulk of the trip, and handling potty breaks like a champ, and everyone was ready for fun when we rolled into Bend right before lunch time.  The time in Bend was a little tough, we were all tired and happened to arrive on one of the hottest days of the year so our hike to the park was a bit of a challenge.  Nonetheless, we finally made it to Sunriver just in time to prepare our first dinner of the week.  Little Guy and Mr. Wyatt Bear were instantly in love with the outdoors and the fact we were RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Jack-Jack's house!  We spent the next week biking (some bike rides may have been further and tougher than others!), playing at Fort Rock Park, splashing at the SHARC, exploring the rivers and towns, and just enjoying our time together with our family and friends.  We loved the nightly trips to Goody's for ice cream and the movie nights on the porch.  Daddy enjoyed some fishing and a round of golf (Mommy even tagged along for a post round cocktail!) and Little Guy spent some time riding a bike with training wheels...what!?!?  Mr. Wyatt Bear mastered standing up unassisted so he is officially walking EVERYWHERE, meaning he can get to that pack of sidewalk chalk a lot quicker than we imagined....We had a slight mix up with the checkout date ( I need to reread papers before marking my calender), but even with a much speedier than planned pack up and a departure time that did not correlate with naps or bedtime, we made it home safe and sound with only one side of the road potty break and a quick stop to change into jammmies and let Daddy finish the driving. We are already planning next year's trip, and can't wait to share Sunriver with everyone!

On the road somewhere in Oregon and stopping for breakfast in Klamath Falls

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream

Downtown in the village there are rocks to climb, perfect for our little adventure seekers.

Emme and Mr. Wyatt Bear were the best of friends.  She loved playing seahorse with him.

Little Guy and his best buddy Jack Jack...these boys go head to head all day in fun and mischief

Outdoor movie night- Uncle Chris was a trooper for packing everything, even the projector screen!

We love our Sunriver garb!

Family photo after the rather long and hot bike ride to the waterfall...the guys were pulling the bike trailers, I can't imagine...

Selfies at the waterfall

Heather and I made sure to take a few photos together!

Two of my loves and my first official solo selfie

Fun with some of my besties!  We were super lucky the Metchos were in Sunriver at the same time, all an unplanned coincidence!

A very dirty Little Guy, he sure knows how to play and four of my favorite kiddos.  Gabe and I hope our boys grow up to be just like Jack and Madison!

Fun at the High Desert Museum.  Uncle Gabe and Emme, those two are quite the pair!

Little Guy loved the museum, especially the play area complete with costumes...that you put over your head and share with everyone (my head itched just watching them play!)

And then the rain...I mean hail started to fall!

Breaktime!

Cocktails at the lodge

Family photo in front of our house...yes, we LOVE matching!!

The group photo, minus Uncle Chris

Our two train lovers boarded the Sunriver Express while we waited for our last lunch before heading home...they loved it!

An official group photo right before the rain started falling and we all loaded up for our trip home.

How we all felt about leaving.  Little Guy told us he wanted to stay in Sunriver for a lot of days...

A week of Adventures

I am not sure why, but this week felt like a good week to go on a lot of adventures.  We started with a trip to the zoo, a Davis park playdate, followed up by a blood draw for mama (yuck!), a trip to the Nut Tree train, stop at the Lego haven BrickSpace, and a few grocery runs and Target stops to tide us over.  Phew, it was a great week with lots of mommy and boy time, just the way I like it!  I am looking forward to next week, when we'll have seven days filled with lots of mommy, daddy, and boys time up at SunRiver!!!!

Guess Who's WALKING!!!!!

We practice walking everyday with Mr. Wyatt Bear.  Usually he just holds my fingers and plows away, or pushes his shopping cart with much gusto.  Today I held his fingers and then let go and he DIDN'T fall.  I thought it was a standing fluke, so we did it again, and again, and again.  Each time Little Guy and I cheered so loud and Mr. Wyatt Bear couldn't get enough of the attention.  He took one step, then another, and pretty soon he was piecing five or six steps together.  We couldn't wait for Daddy to get home to share the big news!  He's still a go to crawler, but everyday I find him pulling himself and trotting around on his feet...with the BIGGEST grin on his face!!!

First Hair TRIM

I finally took the scissors to Mr. Wyatt Bear's little tail and ears.  There wasn't much to cut and I was the only adult home so there are no pictures of the process, but it did involve him sitting on the counter and me pleading with him not to move so I wouldn't get the tip of his ear.  I really didn't take off much, but it's amazing how different he looks...how much older he looks- more like a little boy, less like a shaggy baby!

Milk and Cookies

How do you celebrate your first birthday??? If your mother is a crazy lady (and I think my husband would confirm that I am!), then you do it with a HUGE bash of course!  We decided on a Milk and Cookies theme way back when and couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. We had plenty of yummy cookies, delicious tri-tip, and a make your own custom milk bar, how could it not be a great party?  Mr. Wyatt Bear was all about his cupcake and the constant stream of attention he received and Little Guy woke up the day after asking if the party could come back and play with him.  I think we have some party animals on our hands!
