Dada

This morning Little Guy and I were having breakfast in the family room and due to the nature of the kitchen remodel, we were eating our dry Life cereal out of the box.  Little Guy was playing with the box when his face lit up and he screeched, "Dada".  I looked where he was pointing, and sure enough, he was pointing right at the Quaker pictured below the Quaker Oats logo.  It must have been the hat that drew the similarity, I don't think it was the long hair peaking out of the hat.

Kitchen Update

My dad came and spent the day getting the kitchen ready for sheetrock and texture.  He replaced one of our sliders and I am already seeing how great everythign will look with the new white windows!!

Ikea and Swimming With Lizzy

We hit up Ikea with Lizzy and her mama this morning.  It all started off great, until Little Guy decided he was OVER being in the cart and that prompted Lizzy to want to get out too.  Pretty soon we were chasing crazy toddlers all over the place before escaping to a yummy lunch and a LONG nap when we got home.  We were extra lucky in that we got to have Lizzy and her family over after naps for swimming and dinner.  Dinner was a bit of a bust, the hamburgers were just a little OLD, but it was fun to splash around and catch a glimpse of many summer swim dates to come!

Swimming Time

Today was our last swim lesson.  We decided to take a break from the classes and the drive to Davis.  I am sad to say we won't see our swim friends every week, but I can't say I'll miss the morning chaos and the chlorine stench I carried around every Friday.  I am excited to swim with Little Guy in our backyard and watch him get more and more confident with his jumping in!  After our last swim lesson, we headed to Pleasant Hill for a play date with Gigi.  Daddy had a golf tournament that he took 3rd in, YAY Daddy, so we decided to get out of town for a bit.  We had lunch in Walnut Creek and Little Guy did an awesome job eating and feeding himself the Mac and Cheese- so much for a clean shirt!  We got in a good nap, eyebrow waxing, and even got started on the take home monogrammed shirts and onesies.  Rounding out our day with a visit from Auntie and Peyton, we headed home to see Daddy and give him a big high five!

Paint class

Tonight I took a paint class with my bestie Heather.  No, not a picture painting class like my husband thought, a furniture painting class using Annie Sloan chalk paint.  Not only did I learn so much about painting, I had a great time spending the evening with Heather and meeting the other great women in the class.  I can't wait to get started painting EVERYTHING!  I know I'll have to wait until some of the dust settles from the kitchen remodel, but in the meantime, I am plotting and planning all the painting I will do- bar stools, end tables, baby crib, laundry cabinets...the possibilities are endless!!!

29 weeks

Today we had our 29 week appointment with my ob.  The baby is doing great, apparently wanting to make up for limited weight gain in the first 25 weeks of pregnancy, but I am still measuring right on target and the heart beat sounded nice and strong.  I am definitely feeling more and more pregnant as the weeks go on- I seem to be a lot less mobile or active with this pregnancy, which is tricky with Little Guy, but it's good to have him and all his energy to keep me moving and staying as fit as possible!  We have our next appointment at the end of May at 33 weeks, then 36 weeks, 38 weeks, 39 weeks, and then 40!  I can't believe we're almost to the end of this journey and soon we'll be meeting our sweet baby boy or girl, I am not sure I can wait 10 more weeks!

31

Today I turned 31....YIKES!  I was super lucky to share my day with my two leading men- Daddy took the whole day off and came with us to the doctors, music, and the chiropractor before we had a yummy lunch and a nice long nap.  I woke up from the nap to find my family in town and a beautiful new fountain in the works!  We then headed to farmer's market and met up with Erin, Lizzy, Faith, Heather, Emme, and Jackson.  It was a beautiful night and the most perfect way to ring in 31.  We missed Papa since he was whoopin' it up in Vegas, but there's always 32!

No ring, baby lotion, and Otter Pops

After two swollen days, I was finally able to get my ring off!  I think it's time to retire the authentic wedding ring and start rocking my silver band :)  While I was frantically attempting to get said ring off this morning, Little Guy was helping me by getting himself ready...including lotioning up his face, shirt, shorts, beanbag, and carpet...yep, it was a baby lotion free for all.  The receptionist at the chiro office remarked how good he smelled.  We rounded out a relaxing day with Otter Pops.  This was the first time Little Guy "got" how to eat them and he was hooked!  I can't wait for more warm afternoons with snuggle time and Otter Pops on the front lawn- I can smell summer just around the corner!

Birthday Week

I woke up from my nap today to see Daddy in the rocking chair with a chocolate dipped ice cream cone just for me, what a sweet guy!  Following up my sweet surprise, today I had my first dose of birthday pampering!  Heather took me out for birthday pedicures while her awesome husband watched all three of her kiddos PLUS my little guy!  It was such a relaxing time to catch up and get our toes spring ready!  We followed up the pampering with pizza and playtime, what a fun Friday!

20 months old

Little Guy is 20 months old today...YIKES!!!!!  I am not sure what is scarier, the fact that my baby is 4 months away from being a TWO YEAR OLD, or the fact that Little Guy and baby #2 are only going to be 22 1/2 months apart, meaning this baby is going to make his/her appearance in just over two months....either scenario is just crazy to this soon to be mama of two!  Here are some things we are loving about Little Guy today:
1.  Your complete obsession with your dogs warms our hearts- you can't get enough of "Winnie" or "Odd Ball" and now you even get to spend five weeks with Dusty from next door.  You lucky dog!
2.  While you still love Elmo, you are starting to identify other characters from Sesame Street.  Abby and Big Bird are your favorites after Elmo.
3.  You love to identify animals you recognize, specifically ducks and birds.  I am not sure how you became such a fowl lover since your mother can't stand those feathery friends.
4.  You want to ride your tricycle so bad, but your legs are just inches too short- I can't wait until you can start jamming around, I know you'll love the independence of pedaling your own bike!
5.  You LOVE LOVE LOVE airplanes.  You can spot or hear an airplane from just about anywhere.
6.  You love your crib at nighttime.  You cannot be convinced to nap in your crib, but you willingly jump in at night time.  You spend quite a bit of time getting comfy, sometimes rearranging your stuffed animals, throwing all your supplies out of your crib, or simply deciding to sleep at the foot of your crib before you finally fall asleep.  But you do it all smiling and without any tears!
7.  You are not a huge fan of your swim lessons anymore.  We're finishing up this month and then taking a break.  You still love the water, just not so much the organized class structure...
8.  You are however, still getting some practice with a class structure in our weekly music group.  You really could care less about the class, but you LOVE LOVE LOVE that Lizzy is in class with you!
9.  Speaking of Lizzy, every time we drive past the turn for Lizzy's house, you say "Bye Bye Lizzy".  I am always impressed that you recognize the turn!
10.  You love two letters, "E" and "O".  You love to hold up letters in the bath tub and shout "E" "O" no matter what letter you're holding.
11.  I love that you know how to "sideways" glance and then flash a smile to play our own version of peek a boo- it cracks us both up all day long!
12.  You love Cheerios for breakfast- I can't help but pass some of my odd eating habits on to you, and it appears my love for dry cereal has been passed down.  It's a lot easier for you eat dry cereal while you wonder throughout the house and honestly, I just forget to offer you milk with your cereal!
13.  You'll go anywhere in you wagon, period.  You love your wagon any day, everyday!
14.  You are using proper nouns now and LOVE to identify anything you see: Dada's hat, Mama's shoes, Bill's truck...
15.  You are still an avid reader.  Given the chance to sit down with a book, you'll take it!  We just have to watch you with the pop up books, they aren't fairing too well these days!
16.  You love to give your baby brother/sister kisses on my tummy, but you are quickly down after one kiss and insist on saying "bye bye" to the baby and covering my stomach up before we continue playing.
17.  You are running, climbing, and jumping everywhere!  You just started jumping into the foam pit at gymnastics and now that you see how fun it is, you want to do it all.day.long!
18.  You have to end your day with "Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See" and you get SO EXCITED on the goldfish page- you love that the teacher is next and then the nine children.  You shake your hands and grin from ear to ear.  We love it!
19.  You would like to wear your rain boots everywhere...to the store, the park, in the swimming pool.  You like shoes, but you LOVE your rain boots.
20.  You love babies and you love looking at pictures of babies, but when you see a picture of yourself as a baby, you don't quite realize it's you.  We're always telling you, "That's Wesley", but you insist it's a baby- I guess you're right, you are a baby in the picture, and now, you're getting to be quite the amazingly awesome big boy! We love you!!

Pease Gigi

We had a fun visitor this morning, our buddy Jack Jack came over for a play date while his mommy was at work.  Little Guy thinks Jackson is pretty funny and enjoys playing peek a boo and "getcha getcha" chase.  It's ALMOST easier to have two toddlers running around your house- that is they entertain each other so well I can get a lot done...then you try to go anywhere and you realize that two kiddos is a little trickier to manage in and out of stores or parking lots :)  We had a fun playgroup meet up at gymnastics and even got to see Auntie Cari.  Later in the day, Gigi came over and I ran a few quick errands.  When I came home Little Guy's skin was spotted with marker- I asked Gigi if he had gotten into the markers, and she calmly reported they couldn't find crayons so they used PERMANENT SHARPIE MARKERS for color time...we aren't quite sure what she was thinking, but I know we're in trouble now that Little Guy comes into the office and begs "Pease Gigi" while pointing to the bucket of Sharpies...time to stock up on more Magic Eraser!

It's here!

Well, we have our new fridge, a month ahead of schedule...we sent our old kitchen fridge out to the ranch and within days, our garage fridge went out.  We weeded out the necessities and have been "camping" out of three ice chests in our backyard for the past few days.  We're lucky that we had our fridge on order from the awesome Friedman's Appliances and they quickly delivered today!  Not only were we extra lucky that they delivered it ahead of schedule and without all the other appliances, but they arrived at 10:01 for a delivery window of 10-1PM- now I just can't wait to see it in our new kitchen!

Boston

Today we were watching the news and they briefly mentioned some chaos at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.  Nothing more was mentioned and I went about my day...by the time Daddy got home, there was a lot more to be reported.  I hadn't watched TV all day, but Daddy filled me in on the violent bomb explosions that had hit the finish line- it is a sad and scary day, making me extra appreciative of my family and the chance I have to hug them really tight tonight!

Kitchen Update

The kitchen is in full swing!  Papa and Uncle Dave spent two days here gutting, framing, and prepping the kitchen.  They were even able to take out the dreaded column that has plagued our house since we moved in!  We can't wait to get all the sub contractors in here and watch the kitchen transform into the space we've been dreaming about!  Here are a few "progress" shots!

Urine...Feces...Vomit

I am so glad I waited a day to write this post...if I had written it last night I would have only been able to title it Urine and Feces, which is just boring!  Yesterday we had a special visitor after naps- Gigi came over to help get some stuff done around the house and to play play play.  Little Guy was extra lucky and also got to go hot tubing with his mama and dada!  There's only one logical thing to do after hot tubing, yep, run around the backyard naked.  And what should one do if they're naked in the backyard, yep, they should poop.  If the story ended there, I would be fine...but it doesn't.  Before I could get the hose out, Olive walked over and ate it all...yes all the poop, in ONE BIG BITE!!  Just writing it makes me want to vomit (we'll get to the vomit in a minute!).  We followed up that grossness with a bath, that Little Guy stood up in, peed, then announced all done and sat back down.  And then it was off to bed!  Today we started the day out with our usual drive to swim lessons.  Little Guy was not amused by his mama and Gigi talking and not paying 100% attention to the cute little stinker in the back, so he started to fake cough...and then to really get the fake cough going, he started to put his hands in his mouth....then he decided, what fun is fake coughing and gagging, if there's not something to show for it...yep, cue the grossness, projectile self-induced vomit....all over the car seat, himself, and Gigi's freshly washed car.  I am not sure if the pregnancy hormones made the smell worse, but I couldn't get out of the car or him out of his pjs fast enough!  I am sure there will be plenty more grossness in my life as a mommy of at least one sweet baby boy, but I reached my quota for today!

Happy Happy Birthday!

Auntie Katie is 28 years old today!  We hope she has the best day celebrating with her fiance and sweet baby Pey Pey with a train trip to Old Sac!  We love you!

Music Time!

Today we had our first music class- The instruments were a big hit, but I am pretty positive the highlight for Little Guy was that his BFF Lizzy Bug was in class with him.  His face lit up with a grin from ear to ear when she walked in and when she left class early, he was very concerned- he walked around saying "Bye bye Lizzy" to anyone who would listen.  It was just precious to see how excited he was to be with his friend!  He got a double dose of Lizzy Bug when her mama invited us to meet them at the park for a little afternoon play date- this crazy weather gave us an 88 degree day to muster through and I am already scared of the summer heat to come!  Grandma Patty stopped by and got to be the wagon puller to the park before we wrapped up our day with dinner and playtime with Daddy.

Here's an early shout out to the most amazing 27 year old sister I could ever ask for...National Sibling Day ALMOST overlapped with your big BIRTHDAY...alas, we can celebrate being sisters today and your grand entrance into my life 28 years ago tomorrow!

It's a Jungle Out There

Today we hit up the jungle with our playgroup buddies!  The boys all had a blast and were ready to play all day, but the mommies were hungry, so we headed to Fuddruckers.  Auntie Katie and Peyton met us for lunch, both looking incredibly stylish and way to put together for a four week old mama and baby duo!  It was a fun time that may have lasted about 20 minutes too long- by the time we were leaving, all three boys were either crying or literally laying on the floor saying "Night Night" while sweet Peyton just kept on sleeping.  It was nap time for all and a quiet ride back home!

Those in glass houses

should turn their walls into aquariums!  My dear hubby is OBSESSED with fish tanks, and while we have tried our hand at them many a time, we know that it is best for us to NOT be fish parents!  This little tidbit of knowledge doesn't stop him from trying to work a fish tank into ANY area of our kitchen remodel.  I may be privy to the knowledge that we WILL NOT in fact have any fish anywhere near our remodel (unless they are being sauteed up on our new range!), but just to keep him entertained, I suggested we just do away with any plans to use the tape/texture guy, and just turn all our walls into aquariums...I am 100% positive I'll be calling the taper next week.

One step closer

We ordered our appliances today!!!  We're that much closer to our new kitchen!  Tomorrow we're all set to confirm our cabinets and hopefully pick out flooring sometime this week too!  I was already super excited for a new kitchen, but after a few weeks of dishes in the bath tub and either eating out or BBQing outside (no matter what the temperature), I am excited and relieved that construction is going to be starting soon!

20 months in the making

Today we were able to get a few errands run before heading over to Auntie Heather's for a DELICIOUS ribs dinner.  One of those errands involved a quick trip in to Michael's- I decided that since Peyton's shadow box is now finished (way to be an over achiever Sis!!), I should get to work on Wesley's....He's only 20 months old, I didn't want to rush anything.  I can't believe I'll be working on our sweet Baby #2's shadow box in just 13 weeks; at least I can think I'll have plenty of free time with two babies to finish up a shadow box before our sweet Baby # 2 is 20 months old!

Up Pease Mama

Little Guy has decided that simple "Up Pease" isn't enough of a heart string puller- he's now added "Mama" to the end of any request.  I don't know what it is, but I just can't handle the sweet way "Mama" and "Dada" roll off his tongue :)

Few screws loose

Little Guy has a mind of his own and when he sets his sights on something, watch out if you're in his way. Speaking of being in the way, his new thing he picked up from "Little Blue Truck" is "beep, beep" to anything or anyone in his way....anyways, I digress.... Today he set his sights on the hot tub, which was not hot, so I let him go feel how cold the water was...and then he proceeded to climb in the hot tub, rain boots, socks, pants, diapers, the whole nine yards, and splash around. I don't have a picture since I clearly couldn't leave him alone in the water, but he was happy as a clam to be splashing around in all 70 degrees of hot tub goodness...sometimes I am not too sure about our little love ;)

Poo-Poo

We keep talking about how quickly Little Guy picks up on sayings, words, ideas, etc. and how important it is to be mindful of our actions since he's just watching and learning from everything we do. Just the other day Daddy helped me change the sheets and after dropping the laundry over the banister, he looked down to see Little Guy hurling clean laundry, toys, and books over the banister as well...not the behavior we were really hoping to encourage....well this time, Daddy is in luck. Little Guy now mimics Daddy picking up dog poop- he walks around with his plastic shovel saying "poo poo" and scoping up anything he finds outside. Pretty soon Daddy will be able to retire from his position of dog pooper scooper, hooray!

First Visit of the Year

We hit up Six Flags today for our first visit of the year.  It was a great day to go, even if we spent 30 minutes in the shark experience dodging the rain storm.  After the rain, it was blue skis and fun for everyone.  Gigi came with us and Little Guy was SUPER excited to have her carry him everywhere! When he wasn't being carried, he walked hand in hand with his buddy Caden.  Between the rides, the walking, and the animals, Little Guy was beat and fell asleep on the walk back to the car.  He stayed PASSED OUT ASLEEP while I changed his diaper and took off his soaking wet sweatsuit.  He slept all the way home and for two more hours after we got home...what a tiring day!
