Disney on Ice

We took the boys to Disney on Ice today and let me just say, it was fun but a little rough...we started the day with a birthday party for Great Grandma Jean which meant no nap...so yeah, we all know how that goes.  Then we arrived at the stadium to find the Raiders game still going on and the parking lot barricaded off.  Needless to say, after three different entrances, we ended up back at the original one and rushing to find parking amongst the THOUSANDS of Raider fans...it was a little intimidating, but we got in and the boys loved the show- that is until the green army men from Toy Story came out.  Little Guy lost it, took off up the stairs and was a crying mess.  I think being overtired got the best of him and he reported it was just too scary so we left.  We made it home with sleeping kiddos in time to watch the Giants lose to a walk off home run...not a bad Sunday, but certainly a hectic one!

Baby Charlotte

Today we celebrated Erin and Baby Charlotte.  We are all excited to meet her next month!  I have to say, I am in love with the small luncheon type shower- it was so nice to actually visit with everyone and have a morning of girl talk.  I am hoping to get the party details blogged over at Teaspoons and Twine, but in the meantime, here are some glowing pictures of the mama-to-be.

Out of Town Visitors

Gabe's family was in town for a great Aunt's funeral and since we are never all together at once, we decided to have a dinner.  Gabe's family from Oregon and the Bay Area were there and Little Guy was too excited to play with his second cousins and "Uncle" Kevin.  It was so nice seeing Aunt Janet and Grandma's new house and even more fun to watch everyone play together.  Tomorrow there will be a breakfast in town to see Grandpa Jim before he heads back to Brazil.  I wish I could make it there, but with the shower just an hour later, I think I better stay home and cook!

Date Night

My mom came over tonight so Gabe and I could have a little date night...and because I needed help tomorrow bright and early, so it worked out perfectly to have her spend the night and try out the new window seat!  Our date night ended up being drinks and dessert, plus oysters for Gabe, before returning home to watch taped TV...party animals we are not, but we did at least drive past one of the local watering holes only to reaffirm our choice to head home.  It might not have been a raging all nighter, but it was fun just to hang out me and my hubby!

15 month old check up

Mr. Wyatt Bear had his 15 month check up today- he is weighing in at 22 pounds and hitting right at 50% on the growth chart!  He was a rock star, tolerating 3 shots with minimal tears.  Here are some other 15 month old stats:

  • Mr. Wyatt Bear has advanced from walking to running to climbing...the peace and quiet that I haven't known for years is no where near returning anytime soon.
  • He is busy cutting molars- drool and snot are plaguing this poor kiddo, let's hope the teeth cut through soon!
  • Mr. Wyatt Bear has finally seen the light and enjoys a little bedtime story- usually only half of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, but it's better than nothing!
  • This kid is OBSESSED, I mean OBSESSED with sports balls!  He can spot them miles away and becomes panicked when he can't have them.
  • We're still working on talking- he can say "ball" (shocker) and makes his desires very clear with pointing and noises and can happily say "Bye Bye" and something that resembles "Thank you"...I have a feeling he's going to start jabbering soon and we'll wonder why we didn't love these wordless days.
  • Mr. Wyatt Bear now rides forward facing- I was hoping to keep him rear facing for longer, but when your big brother is enjoying the view out the window, you want to be right there with him.
  • Our little baby is growing everyday and he loves to eat eat eat!  He'll eat almost anything and still loves to nurse.

We don't have another routine appointment until his second birthday, how is that even possible?!?  We love you Mr. Wyatt Bear and have had so much fun these past 15 months, thanks for all the new adventures!

Burgers and Baskets

Today was Little Guy's first preschool fundraiser.  All the family came out, minus Uncle Mark and Papa Cliff ( we missed you guys!) and Little Guy could not have been more excited to show his family his preschool.  He talked about it all day and was just ecstatic to have everyone not only together to play with him, but together on his preschool playground.  It was the first event I helped with since joining the Ministry Team and I'd say it was a huge success.  I am so happy our family found PEP and that Little Guy now wakes up every morning asking if it can be a preschool day.

Bible Time

Today was the first time that Pastor Mary came into the classroom to do a Bible lesson with the preschoolers.  Since the classroom is too small for family too, they set up a baby monitor in an adjoining room so we can hear the lesson and discuss it at home.  This week the majority of the time was spent corralling kiddos onto the rug, but once they got started it was precious.  She taught them "Jesus Loves You", so they sang it twice and then it was time to go.  I am excited to hear what Little Guy will learn this year.
